Review: Catwoman’s Challenge 2011 NYE Run

Back again for it’s second year running is the Catwoman’ Challenge New Years Eve Run. The event was organized by My Running Addiction site along with the Catwoman’s herself, Ms Jenap Said, Singapore very own Marathon Celebrity whom have seen taking part in marathon event all over the world from Malaysia to China to Turkey to Dubai and to many- many more country that you don’t even think they would have a marathon event organized in that country.

The Catwoman’s Challenge is unique as it is the only run that is all about running- No cost, No water point, No Route Marker, No Finisher medals or event T-shirt. It’s an event where runners from all sort of life and fitness level come together on new years eve to do the things they love the most.. Running.

First Organized in 2010 with aims to bring runners together on new years eve for a special celebration to mark the end the year and to welcome the new year with by doing the activity we are most passionate about which is running. This year saw the number of participant increase by 3 times as compared to previous year. The event was also featured in the Malay paper (Berita Harian) earlier that week.

The format for the event was the same as last year, meeting up at Changi point on the evening of 31st December in our running attire ready to run as a group. The distance is split into 2 parts, the first part of the race begins at Changi point and Ends at East Coast Parkway (ECP), the lagoon via Changi Coastal Road, distance was about 17km. At ECP the participant rested and catchup with one another while enjoying a glass of Sugarcane.

From ECP participant ran another 2.5km before gathering up as one as they march, cheer and bring east coast alive with their warmth wishes. It was literally as if Universal Studio Characters (USS) had paraded down in ECP, Participant came in their cute outfit as Batman, Green Lantern, Pebble Flintstone and many more, leading them was none other than the Marathon Catwoman herself.

As they exited ECP with Smile on their face, the participant ran another 7km before stopping near the Singapore Flyer, this time was at Marina by the Bay, to catch the Fireworks and to usher in the new year with a blast! It was a great way to end the year and to welcome in the new year. Total Distance covered was 27km.
