27th November 2011 (Sunday), Back again this year is the unique Tiong Bahru Challenge. The Tiong Bahru Challenge is well known to be one of the few running event which incoporate both running and stairs climbing all together in one running event.
This year the running portion of the race was distance of the run was extended to 8km and the height for the vertical stairs climb remains at 30storey as participant scale up at heart of Tiong Bahru Estate. To add to the Challenge a cut off time of 2hours was impose
This year the event was titled sponsored by both Montrail and Mountain Hardwear and was organised by Tiong Bahru CC Management Committe, Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru CSC, Tiong Bahru CC and Boon Tiong RC.
Participant Report as early as 0645hr as Block 4B, Boon Tiong Road as they did their warm up before to start the race at 0730.
Flag off and participant made their way towards lower delta road then Alexandra road before moving towards the Delta Swimming complex and back to the start point where they will scale up the 30storey building. Along the way there were a total of 3 water stations.
As soon as the participant finishes the 30 storey climb, the made their way on the to the ground floor using the elevator, they then proceed to collect their finisher certificate.
Overall, this is one of the few interesting running event of the year incorporate the element of vertical storey climb on top of the normal runs. The event was well organize, water point was sufficient, usher was cheerful to cheer on the runners and also this event is a good final tune up run before the Singapore marathon next weekend.
