Nike City 10K to give 500 more runners the chance to experience Singapore’s first ever inter-city rivalry race against Malaysia
The first 500 runners who sign up at the Nike Flagship Store at Wisma Atria will get to represent Singapore in lacing up for a good cause
September 28, 2010 (Singapore) – 500 more young runners will get a chance to be part of Singapore’s first ever inter-city rivalry race against Malaysia at the Nike City 10K, which has met with an overwhelming response in Singapore. 12,000 runners here booked their date to battle against runners in Kuala Lumpur after registration was officially launched on 1 September. All public registration slots were snapped up by 11 September.
To address public demands for participation in the popular race, Nike has decided to release an additional 500 slots for runners who missed the chance to book their places for the 24 October event. The additional 500 registration slots will be released to the public on Thursday, 30 September, at 11am, exclusively at the Nike Flagship Store in Wisma Atria. Registration is limited to a first-come-first-serve basis. Each person can only register once, and payment is strictly by cash only.

The Nike City 10K flags off in Kuala Lumpur on 10 October and 24 October for Singapore.
Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are two of 22 cities around the world that will be hosting the newly introduced Nike City 10K this year. In addition to the physical race, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur will be challenging each other in a virtual race, where runners in each city can clock mileage for their City from now till 31st Oct. All they need is a Nike+ SportBand to sync their mileage on Nikeplus.com.sg.
The city with the most kilometres clocked by the end of October will win a sum of USD30,000 from Nike to be donated to their respective charities. Runners in Singapore will raise funds for the Singapore Children’s Society, while runners in Kuala Lumpur will run to earn a donation for Hope Malaysia.
Participants in the Nike City 10K Singapore can also look forward to enjoying a special running experience, with vibrant performances positioned in four entertainment zones along the race route to motivate and energize the runners.

Giving young runners a chance to train together for the Nike City 10K Singapore, Nike will conduct special training run sessions from 26 Sept – 17 Oct every Sunday near the city race route. Participation is free and runners who sign up for the sessions will get to trial the latest Nike running products and gain access to running tips from experts. Registration can be done online via Nikerunning.com.sg on a first-come-first-serve basis.
